How To Make A Milkshake With A Blender

It’s really easy, you just blend up vanilla ice cream with a splash of milk and then squirt in some syrup for flavor. At least that’s the base idea you can mix it up with fresh fruit or even bits of cookie, just experiment and have fun!

The most important part is to not use too much milk or it will get too runny, you want about a quarter cup of milk to 3 scoops of ice cream. And NEVER add ice or it will dilute the flavor and the consistency.

Final tip is to let the ice cream soften before blending, so let it sit till it’s the consistency of soft serve, that way it blends better and becomes lovely and thick.

Chocolate Milkshake Recipe

  • 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 1 squiart of chocolate syrup
  1. Pour in milk to blender
  2. Scoop in softened ice cream
  3. squirt in chocolate syrup
  4. Blend until creamy!

It’s that easy.

Ninja Professional Milkshake Blender

Ninja Proffesional Milkshake Blender
  • 1000 Blending Watts
  • Makes Great Smoothies
  • 72 oz Jar

Price & Reviews at Amazon

If you just want to make smoothies you don’t want to break the bank right? That’s why I love this ninja blender, it’s super affordable and can make up a milkshake in no time. Plus it’s got a little more versatility and can handle smoothies too.

It’s 1000 watts and 6 blades mean it makes your milkshake quickly which is important because you don’t want it to melt before it’s blended, and the 72 oz jug means you have more than enough space to make some giant milkshakes.

But, if you plan on having a lot of smoothies made with harder things like ice then you’ll find the blades start to dull in this blender making the smoothies less smooth over time so you should think about the Blendtec below.

If however you want to enjoy milkshakes, and maybe the odd smoothie here and there then this is the blender for you.

Best Blender For Smoothies and Milkshakes

Blendtec Total Glass Jar Blender

Blendtec Milkshake maker
  • Long lasting blades
  • Self Cleaning
  • Easy pour square jar

Price & Reviews at Amazon

The Blendtec is a fantastic milkshake blender, it’s got a dull blade and powerful motor which means it has superb blending power year in and year out. This is the main advantage, it comes at a higher price tag but the value is arguably higher.

For milkshakes it’s great because it pours easy and you can scrape out the corners with a spatula so none gets lost and it’s self-cleaning with a little warm water and soap. It’s got to be the only downside of having an at home milkshake, cleaning up after, making this a great choice.

But what’s really great is that this blender is fantastic for everything else too, it can make soups, extra smooth smoothies, green juices and blends up ice no problem at all (just keep the ice out your milkshake!)

If you’re looking for just a milkshake maker then go with the ninja above or the one below but if you want a great all-round blender then there’s no better choice than the Blendtec.

Best Milkshake Maker

Hamilton Beach Classic Drink Mixer

Hamillton beach old fashioned milkshake maker
  • Old fashioned design
  • 28 Oz cup
  • 2 Speeds

Price & Reviews at Amazon

This is a great alternative to the Cuisinart milkshake maker that isn’t available anymore. It’s the old fashioned style of milkshake maker that used to be available in every town in America.

Just clip the stainless steel cup to the top and click on the which to blitz up a milkshake in no time. There isn’t much multifunction use out of this, it’s a milkshake maker after all, but it’s a lot cheaper than a blender and mixes together really nicely.

Stick a dime in the jukebox, crank out Elvis at full blast and live out that retro 50’s fantasy, incidentally it would be great for a retro themed party. The cup is dishwasher safe and the head tilts making cleaning the mixer easier.

So get taken back and enjoy all the milkshakes and malts your heart desires.

Best Commercial Milkshake Blender

Waring Heavy Duty Drink Mixer

Waring Commercial Milkshake Maker
  • Diecast metal body
  • 750 watt motor
  • 3 speeds up to 24,000 RPM

Price & Reviews at Amazon

Everything you need from a commercial milkshake maker, it’s got 1 hp of power in it that means you can blend together fully frozen ice cream without having to leave it to melt first. And it works in a way where you press down the lid and runs till the lid is lifted again allowing you a little more freedom to do other tasks.

It’s also got a butterfly agitator head which mixes the drink while the blade turns allowing for an even mix all the way through, no lumps at the bottom. The cup it comes with is stainless steel and is 28 oz though you won’t be able to fill it that full while mixing or it will go everywhere!

A fine choice of commercial milkshake maker.

Best Immersion Blender For Milkshakes

Cuisinart Smart Stick Immersion Blender

Cuisnart Smart Stick ChromeImmersion blender for milkshakes
  • Comes with 2 cup measuring jug
  • Dishwasher safe blending stick
  • easy to use lock safety feature

Price & Reviews at Amazon

An immersion blender wouldn’t be my first choice for smoothies but it can be done so I thought it was worth including. The Cuisinart Smart Stick is a fine choice because it’s easy to use with the lock button on top and the high and low-speed choices.

Plus you can put the blending shaft into the dishwasher for easy clean up after your done. This one comes with a 2 cup size of measuring jug although the size of milkshake I personally prefer needs a little more room than that to allow for blending!

The 200-watt motor makes milkshakes easy but also lets you blend up sauces and soups easily too, even pancake mix can be whizzed up in no time at all with an immersion blender.

Milkshake Blender Buyer’s Guide

If you’re still unsure about what milkshake blender to get then maybe this buyer’s guide can help. I’ve covered all the need to know information you might want when you’re shopping for the best blender for milkshakes.

Type Of Blender

You’ve got the three main types you can use for making milkshakes:

Jar Blender – This is what people think of when they think about a blender, sits on the countertop and blends things. It’s my favorite type for milkshakes because it’s got a lot of versatility in the kitchen for smoothies and other cooking too.

Drink Mixer – This is often called a milkshake maker, the retro style where you clip a stainless steel cup to the top with the mixing stick inside and it whizzes a milkshake together. They’re awesome to use and great at what they do but they have limited uses outside of that. But the bonus is they’re often cheaper then a blender is.

Immersion Blender – These are the stick blenders that you use for soups and sauces, they can make milkshakes too but I’d only really use one for that if you have it already, unless you plan on making a lot of soup and want to make an occasional milkshake with it.

Power

The power depends on what mixer you have, a jug blender needs about 1000 watts of power to be useful for anything but a drink mixer only needs around 200 watts. More is almost always better but often more is more expensive so if it’s not what you need then don’t worry about it.

Jar Size

I like a nice big jar so I can make milkshakes for everyone who’s over, more than 32 oz is best so you can make at least 2 enormous milkshakes or 4 regular sized ones. If it’s in a cup then about 24 is the smallest you’ll want so you can batch make a few at a time.

Speed Settings

For milkshakes you only really need one setting, but if it’s got a high and a low that’s enough to give you some control based on how soft the ice cream is. Low for softer and high for more frozen ice cream.

Will It Be Used for Anything Else?

I’m all about versatility in the kitchen, as many uses as possible from a single appliance Which is why I like countertop blenders, they can also do smoothies, purees, batter, soups and more. I’ve got more smoothie blenders here.
