Juice is a great way to lose weight, getting that much nutrition with so few calories, what’s not to love?
And with people managing to lose over 100 lbs from juicing I get why you’re excited to learn about the best juice recipes for weight loss.
I’m going to take you through some of the most important ingredients to use in your juice, how to use juice to help you lose weight and of course my favorite recipes you can start making at home.
Let’s get stuck in!
How Juicing Can Help You Lose Weight
Whether you’ve got a juicer or not you definitely can lose weight juicing, but how much weight you lose depends a lot on what approach you take. If you want to lose a lot of weight then you’re going to want to go on a juice fast or if you want a more gentle approach then you can use juice as a meal or snack replacement.
Juice Cleansing
Juice cleansing is where you only drink juice for a set number of days, 3, 5 or 7-days are the normal lengths but some people juice fast for up to 100 days! I don’t recommend going that long, because coming back off again and going on to solid foods isn’t easy.
But 1-7 days is a great length of time to not disrupt your normal routine too heavily while helping you lose anywhere from 1-20 lbs of weight.
And if you’re looking for a juice cleanse then you’ve got to start with my ultimate guide to juice cleansing or you can sign up to my weekly email newsletter to get the free PDF download of the article and it’s where I share all my cool healthy finds, interesting articles, new recipes and all that good stuff. Juice Replacement
This is a much gentler approach and is more about a lifestyle change, instead of having a high calories sugary breakfast you simply swap it out to a healthy juice (green juice is a great choice). That way you’re ingesting less calories while still getting loads of nutrition allowing you to gradually lose weight.
The same goes if you swap out an unhealthy snack of candy or anything else like that with a healthy low calories juice you’ll be losing weight in no time.
It doesn’t take much all it takes is a commitment to your health and knowing the right recipes.
Best Juice Ingredients For Weight Loss
What you make can change from day to day but there are certain ingredients that you’ll want to include if you’re trying to lose weight.
Ginger
I love ginger for juicing, it adds a spicy kick, tastes really good but more importantly it works to improve your metabolism so you burn calories faster. And it can increase stomach acid levels which help you digest more easily. The other bonus is ginger is usually really cheap and you can throw it in nice and easily on top of other ingredients.
Kale
Kale is packed full of vitamins and minerals that can improve your skin, help your eyesight but also give you lots of energy. B vitamins are often lacking in unhealthy diets and help give the body lots of energy, so when you’re losing weight and not having as many calories you want to make sure you’re still getting enough energy. Kale is a staple for any green juice but spinach also works and has a lot of the same nutrition.
Cucumber & Celery
These are both ideal to have when you’re losing weight because they’re high in water which helps keep you hydrated and can help stop your body holding on to so much liquid reducing bloating and general discomfort. Plus they make a really good base for any juice giving it some volume without having too strong a flavor.
Ingredients To Avoid For Weight Loss
The above ingredients will give you a great base for any juice you might want to make but you’ve also got to consider what ingredients you want to avoid.
Fruit
Not all fruit, having part of your juice made up of fruit is fine, it adds sweetness a nice flavor and fruit is also packed with vitamins. But what you want to avoid is juice made entirely with fruit, because at that point it has too much sugar in it and the calories get too high so they’re going to counteract any other benefits you might be getting from the juice.
But like I said, throwing in an apple is fine, as are lemons or limes for a bit of sharpness, but just drinking straight orange juice isn’t going to help in this case.
Juice Recipes For Weight Loss
You’ve made it to the main event! I’ve got my 10 favorite recipes here to share with you but don’t be afraid to get creative and mix up what you’re making. Swap out ingredients, add in extra things and have fun. Just keep fruit to a minimum and you’ll be golden.
Prepare Your Ingredients
Before you make any of these juices you want to prepare the ingredients, make sure everything is washed, chopped into chunk and the skin and stalks are removed where appropriate. So no ginger skin, no citrus skin and no stalks of celery or other pieces you shouldn’t normally eat.
